Q: Do you guys only tutor math?

A: Right now, we are starting with math and test prep but if you need help with other subjects please let us know and we will try to match a tutor with your child.

Q: Do you guys only tutor from middle school up?

A: Yes Berkeley Academy is currently for middle and high school students.

Q: Do you guys have any guarantees?

A: No. Academic progress is an effort on both parties participating. We cannot offer any guarantees if your child’s participation is lacking. If you believe that we can do anything better, please feel free to let us know.

Q: So how many times can my child come in?

A: Our recommended program is that your child come in twice a week for an hour block each. It is essential that your child fully understands what is taught in school, and since math is taught on a frequent basis, we believe that twice a week is satisfactory. However, we do have programs where your child only comes in once, or even more than twice a week.

Q: So what if my child can’t come in one week? Does he lose that meeting?

A: If we know about the cancellation beforehand, that meeting can roll-over to the following week. There are no roll-overs between billing cycles, however. So please do let us know about any missed absences.

Q: What if I want to reschedule?

A: Rescheduling is very easy. All you have to do is call us and we will gladly help with the rescheduling.

Q: Do you guys offer homework?

A: Yes we can give out homework to help supplement the lesson. The great thing is, that we can customize the homework so that the student can effectively work on problems that he or she needs.

Q: How is the billing cycle set up?

A: You are billed on a 4 week billing cycle. We will just give you notice on your final week of the current cycle, and you will have the freedom to continue or discontinue.

Q: Is there anyway to lower payments?

A: Yes, we have a fantastic referral program! Every time you refer someone to Berkeley Academy and they sign up, you will have a PERMANENT discount from your monthly billing cycle. Currently, there is no limit of referrals you can make so its possible that your child can come for free in the near future. Also, at this time, if you give us their name and phone number, WE WILL DO THE CALLING and if they sign up, you will be credited with the referral.

Q: So tell me about your program…

A: Berkeley Academy is an after school tutoring program where students work in a very small ratio with tutors. (We are just starting up, so you have a very good chance that your child will work 1 on 1 with a tutor). Your child can come for an hour or 1.5 hour blocks into our centers. Our tutors will work with your student in mathematics or test preparation, and will assist your student to understand the material at hand. We have different programs from challenging your student in math, or to programs to catch up to grade level. We can even help with homework or help study for upcoming tests so this is truly a customized curriculum.

Q: What makes you different from other academic centers?

A: The truly customized curriculum. We don’t have a strict agenda to follow where we can’t help with schoolwork at times. We want your child to get ahead or catch up, but don’t want them to lose focus on their schoolwork. We believe that the tutors can make a world of a difference. We gaurantee that our tutors will never be 'burnt-out.'

Q: What qualifications do your tutors have?

A: All of our tutors love working with kids and have many experience in tutoring them. Our tutors are experts in the field that they are tutoring in, and are at least graduating seniors in college. They have recently gone through the college application process so they will prove to be a great learning asset to your child. Our lead tutors are recent graduates from UC Berkeley and UCLA. Mr. Park is an ex middle school and high school math teacher. Ms. Chang was a math major and is now a full time programmer analyst.
